I haven't been painting for very long. Maybe a year or so, when I decided to take the plunge into miniature painting. This is a project i've been more recently working on and finally finished. I only have the end product but was noticing there isn't much customizing in the HeroClix world, and wanted to put some of my stuff out there for people to see. Sure some people customize their clix, however it's nowhere near the other fantasy games.
Here it is! Killer Croc! Here is the original, out of the box paint job. I love the game HeroClix, however I am always disappointed with the paint jobs they supply. The factory paint however does leave lots of opportunity to really make your own custom models shine.
To strip the paint off the plastic without melting it or having it flake, I use a cotton ball soaked in acetone. You can get the acetone from Walmart for about 2-3 dollars for a decent sized bottle. Just dab the cotton ball and wipe away the filth!
Here is my Killer Croc after he's finished. I didn't make a tutorial, but perhaps i'll start to show my process on the next few models, and maybe have feedback to help improve my methods. We can improve together!
I think basing HeroClix gives them a lot more volume and realism to the individual character. I wanted him to look more crocodile than just green. It's hard to tell since the picture is rather small, but wanted to have the browns and blacks like crocodile skin. I also wanted him to be in Arkham orange, instead of the blue pants he came with. The torso I used, that Croc is feasting on, is a Jackal from Web of Spider-man somebody gave me that was missing an arm. He became mod fodder.
